Despite Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan receiving unanimous praise for delivering a well-balanced national budget speech on Wednesday, five of his Cabinet colleagues snubbed the minister after MPs from all parties represented in Parliament gave him a standing ovation at the end of his address.
Social Development Minister Bathabile Dlamini – who has recently denied having any “enmity” between herself and Gordhan over the issuing of social welfare grants – and Gupta-linked Minister Des van Rooyen, were among the ministers who decided to rebuff the finance minister.

Other ministers who clearly were not impressed with the speech included Minister of State Security David Mahlobo‚ a known ally of President Jacob Zuma, Small Business Development Minister Lindiwe Zulu and Deputy Police Minister Maggie Sotyu.
The ministers were even spotted by opposition MPs from the EFF and the DA.
