Home affairs unable to process Smart ID card, passport applications
All other services unaffected by a system upgrade are available at front offices across the country.

Due to technical issues with the home affairs Live Capture system upgrade, some offices are still unable to process Smart ID card and passport applications, reports Roodepoort Record.
According to home affairs spokesperson David Hlabane, all other services, such as processing and issuing of certificates for births, marriages and deaths, are available at front offices across the country.

The Department of Home Affairs has expressed its sincere apologies to all of its clients for the inconvenience caused. The system upgrade will assist greatly in improving service quality and in building a new national identity system for South Africa.
