Government has refuted news that broke out earlier this evening that Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa’s senior communicator, Ronnie Mamoepa, has passed away.
Chief director of communications for the Presidency Tyrone Seale confirmed that while Mamoepa remains in a critical condition after undergoing surgery at a Pretoria hospital, the news of his passing are a hoax.
Seale said Ramaphosa visited Mamoepa in hospital this evening.
“Following the latest visit by DP Ramaphosa, Mr Mamoepa remained in a critical, unstable condition as at 21h00 on Saturday 22 July 2017,” Seale said.
Mamoepa was previously a spokesperson to Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma when she was the minister of home affairs.
