Gigaba lacks wisdom, says Shivambu

Following Finance Minister Malusi Gigaba’s ex-nyatsi Buhle Mkhize’s Twitter rant on Tuesday night, EFF deputy president Floyd Shivambu has also shared his thoughts.

Taking to social media, Shivambu said it seemed Mkhize disagreed with Gigaba’s statement during parliament’s standing committee on finance on Tuesday morning, in which he said he was “not that cheap”.

Responding to questions, the finance minister slammed Shivambu for making “untrue” statements about his wife Norma’s recent interview with eNCA.

Gigaba set the record straight for Shivambu, saying his wife never said she had attended official meeting with him. Though in the interview Norma said she changed home affairs IT with her husband, Gigaba said his wife never told him how to change IT systems.

“She works in the IT sector, I don’t know where your wife works … she works in parliament, but I don’t think she’s going to impose on you how you should conduct yourself as an MP, I hope she helps you to change your uniform to parliament.

“You will get opinions from many people, including your wife about virtually everything. It applies to everyone,” he said.

He further told Shivambu not to dwell on the interview and stop making a big deal out of nothing.

Gigaba had only one request to Shivambu, that he stop taking “cheap shots” at his family and engage with him.

“It is me who is a politician, it is me you must engage with on an equal footing as politicians, don’t bring my family. I will not bring yours too. I’m not that cheap,” he said.

Taking to Twitter on Tuesday, Shivambu wrote: “His wife speaks [with extreme mediocrity] about politics and how she’s provided IT solutions to home affairs, yet he cries foul when we ask him.”

After being told to not involve Norma in politics, Shivambu again took to Twitter to comment on the Buhle Mkhize drama, saying he was not going to take advice from the minister who “lacks wisdom”.
