WATCH: Jacaranda listener donates R700k to Hoërskool Driehoek tragedy

The Jacaranda community came together to help the families affected by the tragedy.

During an on-site activation at Hoërskool Waterkloof in Pretoria earlier today, radio station Jacaranda FM managed to raise close to a million Rand for the victims of the Hoërskool Driehoek.

Listeners were left in awe of two anonymous callers who donated R200,000 and R700,000 respectively.

Even the Jacaranda Breakfast hosts couldn’t believe their ears as the large amounts were pledged live on air.

Close to the end of the morning, the team had raised over R875,000.

Three learners died on Friday after a large cement walkway collapsed, and have been identified as Rayden Olckers, 17, 13-year-old Marli Carli and 13-year-old Jandre Steyn.

Dozens more were left injured and a few days later, one more student Marnus Nagel, 16, died.

Listeners flooded the Jacaranda timeline in awe of the major acts of kindness.
