Stadium Management SA to fund Mulalo Negondeni’s education

After being impressed by his FNB Stadium replica, stadium management has offered to pay for the rest of Nego's education.

Thanks to the power of social media, Thohoyandou native Mulalo Negondeni has received financial assistance to complete the rest of his studies from Stadium Management South Africa (SMSA).

This after Negondeni’s picture was widely circulated when he created a smaller replica of Gauteng’s FNB Stadium using recyclable materials.

He caught the attention of SMSA who have since invited Negondeni and his family to watch an Absa Premiership match at the stadium next month.

“It came to Stadium Management SA’s attention that Nego Negondeni had built a replica of the FNB Stadium out of recyclable waste materials, cement, sand, cardboard and soil. We have invited Nego and three family members to attend the Absa Premiership Match between Kaizer Chiefs FC and Orlando Pirates FC on February 9th at the FNB Stadium,” explained SMSA in a statement.

In addition to sponsoring the engineer and 3 family members with return transport to and from Johannesburg, accommodation in Johannesburg, a stadium tour and tickets to watch the match, SMSA will assist Negondeni in furthering his education in civil engineering.

He is currently enrolled at Vhembe TVET college Makwarela campus in Thohoyandou.

SMSA CEO Dr Jacques Grobbelaar said: “I was very impressed with this young man’s entrepreneurship and, upon speaking to Nego, was more so with his enthusiastic and vibrant personality,” said

“On behalf of SMSA I wish to extend my well-wishes to Nego for his studies and we are all very excited to host him and his family for the Derby on February 9th,” added Grobbelaar.

This will be Negondeni’s first trip to Johannesburg.
