Nathi Mthethwa taking legal action against Trompies star over ‘assassination’ allegations

kwaito legend Eugene Mthethwa reportedly said he was told the minister was not happy with him for allegations he made against him last year.

Arts and Culture Minister Nathi Mthethwa is taking legal action against music producer and Kwaito artist Eugene Mthethwa over allegations he made at Dan Tshanda’s memorial service in Newtown, Joburg, on Friday, SAfm reported on Monday.

Eugene reportedly told attendees that his friend had warned him against going to the ANC’s manifesto launch rally in KwaZulu-Natal, as the minister was not happy with the public comments he made last year, The Sowetan reported on Monday.

Eugene reportedly alleged last year that the minister was using state funds to illegally fund an organisation which focused on artists’ rights in the country, and now feared for his life.

He was quoted as saying: “I’m supposed to be in Durban today but I was tipped that I shouldn’t go to Durban because I might be assassinated because I exposed Minister Nathi Mthethwa in front of the president. I was telling the truth, I didn’t expose him.”

At the time of his utterances, the minister was attending the ruling party’s manifesto launch in KwaZulu-Natal.
