Gauteng pupil who allegedly beat up a teacher with brick removed from school

Another teacher said schools were not safe after she nearly fell to the ground when a Grade 9 learner allegedly pushed her.

A Johannesburg pupil has been arrested and removed from school just in time for the final examinations after an image showing an assaulted teacher went viral on social media.

Gauteng education MEC Panyaza Lesufi said the matter was attended to by his officials and the teacher was receiving support.

It is alleged the learner beat the teacher with a brick and left him bleeding at Randfontein Secondary School grounds on the West Rand.

The shocking incident received mixed reactions on social media.

One teacher said they were not protected at schools. The teacher said she nearly fell on the ground when a Grade 9 learner pushed her after she asked to mark his book a few weeks back.

Ntombentle Lunika tweeted: “If it was a learner that had a hiding from teacher SA would be roaring. Lawless children of today.”

“I don’t see anything good coming out of this generation shame. [Spoilt] rotten brats,” said Tshepi Mabenakenosi.

Here are some of the reactions from twitter users:
