Kunene also said he respected Zuma for not being petty about Kathrada's family reiterating his wishes that he not attend or speak at his funeral.

As the funeral of ANC struggle stalwart Ahmed Kathrada took place at West Park cemetery, businessman Kenny Kunene shared his view on several of the ruling party’s leaders addressing Zuma’s presidency.
Kunene said on Twitter: “These days ANC funerals are no longer about the dead but president JG Zuma. Funerals are anti-Zuma rallies. How desperate.”

The Kathrada family barred Zuma from attending the funeral in compliance with the wishes of Kathrada, who called on Zuma to step down after the Nkandla debacle last year. Zuma never responded to the letter, which was penned by close to a 100 struggle veterans.
I respect Pres. JG Zuma 4NOT being petty but being Presidential in this Kathrada issue. It's unAfrican what the family said. Batho ba feili

Former president Kgalema Motlanthe received a standing ovation on Wednesday at Ahmed Kathrada’s funeral after quoting an excerpt from a letter in which the late ANC veteran called on President Jacob Zuma to step down.
Secretary-general of the ANC Gwede Mantashe also took a jab at Zuma, stating Kathrada was incorruptible.
“He was a man you knew who would never let you down‚ he would never do something behind your back and never deceive you. You always knew where you stood with him. Sometimes his words were harsh and hurtful, but they were never dishonest‚” Mantashe said.
