Welkom Police received a tip–off at about 6am on Monday about a body found in the Klip Pan next to the Oppenheimer golf course in Welkom, Captain Stephen Thakeng said.

“On arrival of Welkom SAPS [South African Police Service] members the body [of] an unknown African man was found with both hands tied up at his back with a wire and his neck was cut open with [an] unknown object.”

The dead man was wearing a blue and white T-shirt with red stripes, blue trousers, and black gum boots. He had yet to be identified. “Residents are therefore requested to assist in tracing relatives [of the man],” Thakeng said.

Anyone with any information that could lead to the arrest of the murderer/s and relatives of the deceased should contact Detective Sergeant Tsie Matlokotsi of the Welkom detective service on 078-7585-658.
