Frustrated Bekkersdal residents protest over lack of electricity

A protest due to service delivery is currently underway in Bekkersdal on the West Rand, reports Randfontein Herald.
Residents are currently marching to the municipal offices in Westonaria due to the fact that electricity has not yet been supplied as promised.
Service delivery Shutdown has just started in Bekkersdal . Tyres have just been set alight and there are whistles been blown all over the township.
The major gripe is the electrification of the informal settlements, which allegedly was supposed to have started 4 months ago.

Protesters said they had engaged with Eskom, who still hadn’t provided them with electricity.

Roads have reportedly been blocked with burning tyres.
