Free State municipality to honour Prophet Mboro for ‘ending the drought’

According to a report in tabloid Sunday World, Prophet Paseka “Mboro” Motsoeneng is in line for an award for “ending the drought and water crisis” in a Free State municipality.

Most meteorologists appear to think the reason it has rained so much recently is because of a prevailing La Nina weather system, but the Maloti-a-Phofung municipality has found an additional and more spiritual explanation, saying that it rained “in no time” after they prayed with the prophet.

Also in line for an award is Water and Sanitation Minister Nomvula Mokonyane, who apparently supplied water tankers and “water-saving devices in communities hit by the water crisis”.

The municipality wants to give the prophet “something as a token of appreciation for his role in ending drought in our area”.

The paper published a photo of Mboro praying earnestly, hands raised, with the minister and Ekurhuleni Mayor Mzwandile Masina.

The municipality’s mayor, Vusi Tshabalala, said they needed to honour Mokonyane “when she is still alive” for her support during the drought.

The thanksgiving ceremony will be taking place next month at the Phuthaditjhaba Stadium.

The prophet was reportedly overjoyed by the honour and said it would be a great 49th birthday gift. He said he was planning to go and pray for even more rain with the people.

The minister’s spokesperson said they were happy that “somebody out there” had finally noticed and acknowledged Mokonyane’s “good work”.
