Four suspects arrested after live pangolin found in their possession

Four suspects aged between 24 and 30 were arrested in Giyani this week during a sting intelligent-driven joint operation alongside the Ngove road outside Giyani, reports Letaba Herald.

“During the arrest, one live pangolin was recovered wrapped with a cloth and it was immediately handed over to wildlife conservationists for safety,” Col Moatshe Ngeope said.

The suspects will appear before the Giyani Magistrate Court on a charge of possession of protected species.

Meanwhile, in the Tzaneen Policing area, three suspects aged between 25 and 35 were arrested in possession of a pangolin, which was also handed over to conservationists for safety.

The suspects will also appear before the Tzaneen Magistrate Court soon.

Police investigations are ongoing.
