Four injured, two trapped in Durban hit-and-run car crash

One car fled the scene.

Four people were injured, one critically, in a hit-and-run car crash in Ordinance Road before Soldiers Way in Durban late on Saturday night, paramedics said.

Just after 10.30pm Rescue Care paramedics were called to the serious collision involving two cars, Rescue Care spokesman Garrith Jamieson said on Sunday.

“On arrival they found that only one vehicle was on the scene; the second vehicle had fled. Two occupants were found trapped in the wreckage and the Durban fire department used the jaws-of-life to cut them free while advanced life support paramedics stabilised them in the vehicle.”

One passenger had sustained critical injuries and was carefully extricated from the wreckage. The four occupants were then transported to a nearby hospital for the further care that they required.

At this stage the cause of the crash was unknown, but police were on the scene and to investigate, Jamieson said.
