Fikile Mbalula tells us how to get help against gender-based violence

The police minister has been using his social media platforms to document his attempts at fighting crime in the country.

Minister of Police Fikile Mbalula has used his Twitter page to inform the country about his daily activities. From posting about #OperationWanyaTsotsi to pics of guns and dagga possession. On Tuesday night, he took to Twitter to share information on gender violence.

This came after his followers on Twitter pleaded with him to do something on child and woman abuse following Karabo Mokoena’s death and other related incidents.

Battling to come to terms with what has been happening to women and children, women online started sharing their experience of abuse, and the hashtag #MenAreTrash trended.

“I have been receiving complaints from the public from social media and at my office regarding missing young women and children.”

“There is no waiting period to report missing persons. This we have changed to make our investigations into missing persons quicker to resolve,” said Mbalula.
