Two people were left injured after ANC members were attacked in Lindelani in KwaDukuza, north of Durban, on Sunday.
The ANC group, led by Police Minister Bheki Cele, reportedly decided split into two groups as they were campaigning door-to-door in the area, when the other group clashed with unknown suspects, Cele’s spokesperson Reneilwe Serero told EWN.
The unknown suspects allegedly attempted to rob ANC campaigners of their valuables.
As a result, one person sustained an injury to their face while another suffered a broken leg.
Though Cele was in the area, he was reportedly not involved and only went to the scene after the altercation and waited for emergency services.
