The woman says there were at least eight policemen and that they informed her that the neighbours were complaining because her gardener and housekeeper were working. She explained that their gardener stayed with them and that her housekeeper was there to look after the children while she and her husband worked, reports Middelburg Observer.
It appears that a “malicious” neighbour repeatedly called the police because she believed the woman was in violation of the lockdown laws.
Her son, 10, was traumatised when police arrived.
According to the Government Gazette published on 29 April, workers as well as carers of children, the elderly and sick people may resume work from 1 May.
Nearly 100 people have been arrested over the past week after violating the regulations.
Still, gardeners were doing their day jobs illegally, in most neighbourhoods.
Councillor Jos Pretorius says there were many gardeners in Clubville and Golfsig who worked.
Offenders can expect stiff penalties.
