Egyptian man murdered in Kempton Park

A 29-year-old Egyptian national from Rabie Ridge was brutally slain last week after three suspects from Tembisa allegedly bound his face and arms with tape, chained his legs, stabbed him in his neck several times and dumped him in the Greenfield Dam near Norkem Park, reports Kempton Express.

Three suspects were arrested two days later after police found them driving the victim’s car of which they had changed the number plates.

According to Capt Neldah Sekgobela, spokesperson for Tembisa South SAPS, the victim visited Tembisa last week Monday to retrieve money from a woman he sold pots to.

“He never returned home and his family reported him missing that same day,” Sekgobela told Kempton Express.

“It was later discovered that one of the suspects is the son of the woman who bought the pots,” she added.

The victim’s body was recovered by a search and rescue team on Tuesday at around 6.30pm after a resident who had seen it alerted the police.

The alleged killers were caught in the victim’s car a day later when the Crime Prevention Unit from Rabie Ridge SAPS came across them in a stop-and-search.

“The suspects tried to escape but police managed to arrest them and they confessed to the victim’s kidnapping,” Capt Mofana Masela, spokesperson for Rabie Ridge SAPS, told The Tembisan.

According to Sekgobela, the suspects were trying to sell the car at Mayibuye Taxi Rank.

“All three, aged 18, 19, and 21, were arrested,” she confirmed.
