The EFF in Gauteng in a statement has said its members who were involved in a vehicle accident on their return journey from the Durban #EFFTurns4 birthday bash “are well and safe”.
The exact details of the accident are not known.
The province’s acting chairperson, Mandisa Mashego, said the five party members involved had all survived. One had already been discharged from hospital because “he had not sustained serious injuries”, while two others were in a stable condition in hospital.
“The remaining two remain under medical observation and may be discharged soon.” She wished them a speedy recovery.
Mashego added that the “God of Thomas Sankara” was powerful.
Sankara was a Burkinabé military captain, Marxist revolutionary, pan-Africanist and President of Burkina Faso from 1983-87 until his assassination. Viewed by supporters as a charismatic and iconic figure of revolution, he is commonly referred to as “Africa’s Che Guevara”.
