Drug possession charges against Van Breda dropped

Henri van Breda’s lawyer, Piet Botha, reportedly told TimesLive on Tuesday that the director of public prosecutions had said the drug possession charges against Van Breda were withdrawn, as it was “clear that the dagga was not his”.

Van Breda and his girlfriend, Danielle Janse van Rensburg, appeared in Cape Town Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday following their arrest for being found in possession of dagga in Table View in September last year, the website further reported.

According to the report, the condition of the charges against Janse van Rensburg being withdrawn was that she saw a psychologist.

Van Breda – who faces three murder charges and one attempted murder charge, as he is accused of murdering his father, mother, brother and seriously injuring his sister in 2015 – would appear in the Cape Town High Court in the coming weeks.
