Firefighters work to extinguish a blazing Fiat Uno on William Nicol Drive.

The driver of the vehicle was first advised by a nearby taxi driver that petrol was leaking from under the back of his Fiat Uno. The driver proceeded to pull over to the side of the road as the vehicle caught alight.

ER24 paramedics assessed the driver of the vehicle, who had escaped unscathed. “Fortunately, no one sustained any injuries,” said ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring.
