Residents evacuated after another wildfire flagged in Western Cape

The Franskraal fire has prompted the residents to leave the area in search of safety.

Due to a wildfire in Franskraal, Western Cape, burning out of control and spreading fast, the Overstrand municipality’s fire and disaster management has issued a call to immediately evacuate residents in the area.

The R43 between Masakhane and Franskraal has been closed to traffic, with traffic officers re-routing traffic on both sides, according to Working on Fire.

The blaze flared up on Thursday, with strong winds fanning the flames.

Motorists are advised to exercise caution and follow evacuation procedures.

Updates to follow as more information becomes available.
