A history of domestic violence and repeated physical abuse ended with the death of a Paulpietersburg woman on Monday morning, Vryheid Herald reports.
Miss T Bhekiswayo (34) was found lying in a pool of blood with her throat slit and multiple stab wounds in an open field just 800m from her home.
Neighbours informed the police who attended the scene that Ms Bhekiswayo was overheard having a heated argument with the father of her two children late on Sunday night.
SAPS communications officer for the Zululand Cluster Captain Nkosie Gwala said: “Witnesses alleged that on Sunday at around 11pm, the father of the victim’s children kicked the door of the victim’s home open, forced her outside and stabbed her.
“SAPS members tracked down the suspect on Monday afternoon. He had a stab wound to the right thigh and was attempting to poison himself. He was taken to hospital for treatment and later charged.”
