UPDATE: Two suspected drug dealers attacked in the Pretoria CBD

Two men were taken to Tshwane District Hospital after being beaten by a mob alleging they had been selling drugs. According to an eyewitness, the mob alleged they saw one man delivering drugs to another at one of the shops around Bloed Mall, before beating them.

Tshwane emergency services took the injured men to the hospital.

They burnt down a building where drugs were allegedly sold.

Two suspected drug dealers have been attacked in the Pretoria CBD. A building from where they allegedly sold drugs was also set on fire.

According to the South African Police Service, cops were responding to information about drug related activities in Bloed Street in the Pretoria central business district when they spotted two suspects who then allegedly ran into a building where police cornered and arrested them.

Police seized drugs found in possession of the suspects.

“It is at this point that police were allegedly confronted by a group of people believed to be taxi operators, who then assaulted the suspects. Police were able to swiftly diffuse the situation and the suspects were rescued and rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention.

“Police later received reports of a building on fire, and it has been confirmed that the building was in fact the scene where the suspects had been arrested earlier. A case of arson has been opened for investigation,” said the SAPS in a statement.

No arrests have been made.
