Six people injured, seven taxis burned in Soweto taxi violence
Police are in the area to monitor the situation.

Johannesburg residents were on Tuesday warned to exercise “extreme caution” following taxi violence and reports of a shooting which left six people injured and seven minibus taxis burned. The incident reportedly happened on Tuesday morning.
“Reports of shooting and burning of minibus taxis due to taxi violence in Dube Soweto on Mahalefele Rd between Mncube Dr and Ndlovu Rd. Please exercise extreme caution when travelling in that area,” said the chief of police in the Johannesburg metro, David Tembe.

The Gauteng South African Police Service and law enforcement were deployed to the area to monitor the situation.

A 42-year-old man was arrested today in Soweto for possession of an unlicensed firearm.
