Reports indicate that he was walking to school along Fernhurst Road, Mondeor when he was attacked and stabbed. His cellphone was missing from his school bag, according to Comaro Chronicle.
ER24 said assessments showed that the patient had sustained a stab wound to his chest and showed no signs of life.
“CPR and treatment were immediately initiated, in an effort to revive the patient. Unfortunately, after some time, no vital signs returned, and he was declared dead by another service.
“The details surrounding this incident are not yet known but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations,” it said.
The victim’s mother and family members arrived and broke down at the scene.
Principal of Mondeor High School Mrs V Nicolaou and other staff members rushed to the scene. A visibly traumatised Nicolaou said she is heartbroken to have lost one of her pupils.
The body of the schoolboy was only removed from the veld about four hours after the incident.
The boy’s parents, scholars, and other curious passers-by gathered around near the scene as they watched pathologists gather evidence.
Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi rushed to the school soon after reports of the stabbing surfaced.
The MEC is yet to share the details around the incident. He sent his condolences to the family of the pupil.
