Police probe video of man locked in patrol van dog cage
According to Brigadier Motantsi Makhele the incident took place in 2019 but the video only surfaced this week.

The South African Police Service (SAPS) in the Free State has launched an investigation into a video showing a man locked in a dog cage at the back of a police patrol van.
In the video, the man can be seen cuffed inside the cage with a barking dog also in the cage.
According to Brigadier Motantsi Makhele the incident took place in 2019 but the video only surfaced this week.

“The provincial commissioner took note of a video showing a man detained inside a dog cage on an open police patrol van. According to our information the incident dates back to 2019. It shows a man hunched over with his hands in cuffs inside a dog cage on top of an official police bakkie.
“Provincial commissioner Lt-Gen Baile Motswenyane regards this matter as very serious hence she instructed the district commissioner with immediate effect to begin a departmental investigation into this matter. For now we regard the matter as pending and will allow the legal route to unfold,” Makhele said.
