Police are looking for Babes Wodumo

SAPS would like to obtain an official statement from her regarding the case of alleged abuse.

The South African Police Service (SAPS) is currently working to obtain the whereabouts of musician Babes Wodumo after a video of her allegedly being abused by her boyfriend and manager Mandla “Mampintsha” Maphumulo went viral.

According to a statement issued by that SAPS national commissioner General Khehla John Sitole, police have been ordered to trace the whereabouts of Wodumo (real name Bongekile Simelane) so that a statement can be obtained from her and a case opened if it is indeed her that is being assaulted in the video.

“A senior member from the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit has been dedicated to investigate this case, which will be overseen by a major general who is the national head of the same unit,” read the statement.

“Crimes against women, children and people with disabilities is one of the priorities of the South African Police Service. Therefore, we will do everything to ensure that justice prevails when such incidents are reported to us,” said Sitole in the statement before pleading with Wodumo to register a case at a police station nearest to her.
