PICS: Gang robs jewellery store in Durban

One alleged criminal's face can clearly be made out in screenshots from CCTV footage.

After reports on Thursday of a jewellery robbery at Mayuri’s Jewellers at the Pavilion Shopping Centre in Durban on Thursday morning, CCTV photographs emerged of an orange-overalled gang making off with a trolley-load of stolen goods from an unnamed shopping centre in the city.

The owner confirmed to IOL yesterday that four staff had been held at gunpoint when the shop opened and five men helped themselves to boxes of jewellery that had not yet been unpacked.

The cameras, however, showed the gang in pictures making the rounds consisted of more than five men.

He said this was the fourth time he’d been robbed in two years.
