Police in Mpumalanga are searching for suspects after a 30-year-old woman, who worked as a member of the South African National Defence Force (SANDF), was murdered on Thursday in Tonga near Komatipoort.
According to police spokesperson Colonel Donald Mdhluli, a relative was informed by a neighbour that there was something suspicious at the place where the SANDF member was residing.
Upon arrival, the relative discovered the woman’s lifeless body lying outside in a pool of blood, with what looked like stab wounds.
“Police and medical personnel were summoned to the scene and she was certified dead by the paramedics. The police opened a murder case accordingly and no arrests have been made as yet,” Mdhluli said in a statement.
Mdhluli said preliminary investigations indicated the SANDF member was on her way to work as she was in full uniform.
Mpumalanga provincial police commissioner, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Manamela, strongly condemned the incident.
“Anyone with information that can assist police trace the suspects is urged to call the branch commander, Colonel Nancy Mnisi on 0726038438 or the Crime Stop number at 08600 10111.
