‘Misunderstanding’ leads to gardener stabbing employer five times in Alberton

A 69-year-old man was attacked by his 26-year-old gardener with an okapi knife last Monday afternoon in Brackendowns, Alberton, after an alleged misunderstanding, reports Alberton Record.

According to Sgt Lindile Moloi, the spokesperson from Brackendowns SAPS, there was a misunderstanding between the resident and his gardener. Information regarding the attack was received on a National Paramedics Whatsapp group. Paramedics from National Paramedical Services, officers from local security companies and members from Brackendowns CPF responded to the scene.

The Okapi knife the suspect used in the stabbing. Some other items were also found with the knife.

Members from Brackendowns CPF with officers from CPS Security and Fox Security gave chase on foot as the suspect fled over Kliprivier Road towards Bendor Street where he was arrested.

The knife used in the stabbing was found in the suspect’s possession and he was handed over to Brackendowns SAPS.

According to the paramedic from NPS who treated the victim, the man was stabbed once in his right upper back, once in his left lower back, twice in his arm and once in his leg.

The victim was stabbed five times.
