Man wanted for allegedly raping 12-year-old at Mariannhill Railway Station

A warrant of arrest has been issued by the court for a 34-year-old man following an alleged rape incident which occurred at the Mariannhill Railway Station in KwaZulu-Natal, reports Rising Sun Chatsworth.
The Chatsworth Family Violence, Child Protection, and Sexual Offences Unit has made an urgent appeal to members of the public, asking them to assist in locating the man.

Provincial police spokesperson Col Thembeka Mbhele said: “He was wanted for a case of rape that was committed on January 21 at 7.30am at the Mariannhill Railway Station. A 12-year-old girl was attacked and raped by a suspect.”
The suspect fled the scene on foot and has been on the run since.
“A case of rape was opened for investigation. A warrant for his arrest has been issued,” she added.
Anyone who can provide police with information regarding his whereabouts is urged to contact the investigating officer at the Chatsworth FCS unit immediately, on 031 451 4309 or 083 355 6983. Crime Stop can also be contacted on 08600 10111.
