Family tragedy: Hazyview police officer ‘kills’ wife and brothers
The three victims were shot during a family meeting at the police officer’s home in KaMajika.

A police officer allegedly shot and killed his wife and her two brothers at their house in KaMajika near Hazyview, on Sunday 30 April.
The suspect has since handed himself in at the Hazyview Police Station, where he remains in custody.

Police officer returns to family meeting with gun
According to a close family member, the tragic incident occurred at the couple’s house at around 08:30, as the two siblings tried to assist the police officer and his wife to resolve their marital issues.
It is alleged that the policeman stormed out of the family meeting and returned with a firearm.
“The police officer was not happy with some of the responses and he stormed out of the meeting and went to his room, only to come back with a gun. He shot his wife and the two men. They were certified dead on the scene,” said the family member.

Hawks investigation launched
The matter was referred to the provincial Hawks for investigation.
The spokesperson for the Mpumalanga Hawks, Captain Dineo Sekgotodi, said she is gathering additional information before she can comment on the incident.
