Brothers arrested for allegedly murdering young man in Limpopo

Two brothers have been arrested for allegedly fatally stabbing a man near a tavern in Praktiseer, Limpopo.

Police in Tubatse say they received a call from a member of the public who found the bloodied body of an 18-year-old man lying next to the Mama She Is pub on Monday.

Upon closer inspection, the body was found to be riddled with stab wounds.

Detectives managed to arrest the brothers, aged 16 and 19, within hours of taking over the docket.

The deceased was later identified as Thabo Mokwena, from Shushumela.

The suspects will appear in the Praktiseer Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, facing a charge of murder.

Provincial police commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe warned against abusing alcohol. saying it has beome “the major contributor to the escalation of crime”.

Murder in Bluewater Bay

A murder suspect was also arrested in Bluewater Bay in the Eastern Cape on Monday night, thanks to the collaborative effort of police and private security companies.

Swartkops police responded to a murder on Monday, and found a male with multiple stab wounds to his face and head.

Eyewitnesses told authorities the man was stabbed by the suspect for an unknown reason. They said they attempted to apprehend him, but he managed to escape.

A clear description was however given to security officers patrolling in the area, and the 25-year-old man was arrested a few minutes later. The alleged murder weapon was also confiscated.

The suspect is due to appear in the Motherwell Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday on a charge of murder, while investigations continue.
