A 55-year-old man is scheduled to appear before the Seshego Magistrate’s Court in Limpopo on Thursday, facing murder charges in connection with the death of his 34-year-old girlfriend in Moletjie, Ga-Chokoe village.
The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning, led to a manhunt that concluded with the suspect’s arrest on Tuesday, according to police officials.
Girlfriend’s murder crime scene discovery
Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba reported that authorities responded to reports of a murder around 2.30am on Sunday.
“On arrival, [police] members found the family member of a 34-year-old woman who was found lying on the street with multiple severe injuries on the upper body,” Ledwaba said.
Emergency medical personnel were called to the scene, but were unable to save the victim, who was pronounced dead upon their arrival.

Murder investigation and boyfriend’s arrest
Following the discovery, investigators quickly identified the deceased woman’s boyfriend as the primary suspect in the case.
“A massive manhunt for the suspect commenced, and he was traced and subsequently apprehended on Tuesday at about 9am, in Moletji, Ga-Mphela village,” Ledwaba revealed.
While the exact motive for the killing remains under investigation, authorities have not ruled out domestic violence as a contributing factor.
“The motive of the incident is currently unknown at this stage,” Ledwaba stated, though he added that “domestic violence cannot be ruled out in the case”.
The police investigation continues as officials work to gather additional evidence before the suspect’s court appearance.
