Police have confirmed they have recovered bodies at a river in Centurion, north of Johannesburg.
The police’s search and rescue members were scouring the Hennops River for the bodies when they made the grim discovery on Tuesday.
Investigation
National police spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe said investigations are continuing.
“The Saps confirms that its investigation has brought it to the Hennops River in Centurion along the N1, we have three bodies so far whose identities are yet to be confirmed.
“We are searching for another body and for any other evidence that will assist us in concluding the case of the missing police officers,” Mathe said.
Police later confirmed that five bodies had been found at the site in Hennops River. Though none have been identified yet, it is thought that some of them could be the missing constables.
