A woman has opened a case of sexual assault and harassment this past weekend in Middelburg, Mpumalanga, after fleeing an alleged attack by a police officer reports Middelburg Observer.
The woman, whose identity is being withheld, said that she worked as a bartender at a well-known establishment in the town.
She alleged that the man in question gave the woman a tip and offered her a lift home in the early hours of Thursday morning. As she had no other lift to get home, she accepted.

According to her, while they were driving, the man told her he was a police officer.
After this, the man allegedly stopped the car, punched the woman in the face and pushed her against the car door.
She was also allegedly throttled by the man, who ripped her blouse in the process and touched her breasts.
She says that he tried to rip her pants off, but she told him she was menstruating and he allegedly left her alone, but continued to try and kiss her while smashing her head against the door.
The woman said she broke free, jumped out of the car, and fled.
Cases of assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm, as well as sexual assault claims are currently being investigated.
Sources have told Middelburg Observer that the police officer in question is still on duty.
