Van loaded with wine worth R100k hijacked by men posing as cops
The van was recovered by the EMPD in less than an hour.

Just after 8am on Thursday morning, a male driver and his crew travelling in a panel van on the N12 in Springs were stopped under the bridge by three unknown males posing as police officers, reports Springs Advertiser.
Their car displayed a portable flashing blue light on the roof.
The van transporting 29 boxes of wine to the value of R100,000 was then allegedly hijacked.

The panel van was later recovered by the EMPD Specialised Task Team and the tracking company. It was found abandoned and unlocked on a gravel road with keys in the ignition and the 29 boxes of wine.
This van was quickly recovered by the EMPD.
The victims were located at the Springs police station, after spending a good few minutes inside the suspects’ car boot, before being dumped in Riverleigh.
They managed to hitchhike to the nearest police station, and were unscathed, albeit shaken.
“Police are confident that the people responsible will soon be behind bars,” said EMPD spokesperson Kobeli Mokheseng.
The vehicle was booked in at SAPS Van Ryn Deep Pound in Benoni for safekeeping.
