Edenvale SAPS is investigating a case of attempted murder after a man was shot on Sunday evening, reports Bedfordview Edenvale News.

“Members of Edenvale Crime Prevention Unit were patrolling on Van Riebeeck Avenue when they noticed the male suspect standing next to the victim’s vehicle with a firearm in his hand,” said Mashile.

“He fired shots at the victim, who was on the driver’s side of the vehicle.”

Officers gave chase and the suspect fled the scene in a white Golf 6.

“They lost sight of him on the P91 Modderfontein Road.”

Mashile said it was believed the suspect did not see the officers before he started shooting.

“We appeal to anyone who may be able to assist police to find the suspect or provide information on the matter to come forward,” said Mashile.

The motive for the shooting is unknown.
