Charges against Solly Msimanga’s brother withdrawn due to lack of witnesses

The case against Nkululeko Msimanga, former Tshwane mayor Solly Msimanga’s brother, was withdrawn after witnesses refused to come forward.
Police spokesperson Captain Augustinah Selepe told The Sowetan: “Both cases were withdrawn. There were no sufficient prospects to rule on the case and no witness came forward or was willing to come forward.”
Nkululeko told the publication that he was “relieved” that the charges were withdrawn as he was not guilty, while his brother Solly said he hoped that Nkululeko’s name would be cleared.

However, the city of Tshwane reportedly plans on pursuing internal disciplinary charges against Nkululeko.
Nkululeko, a revenue consultant at the city of Tshwane, was arrested two weeks ago after allegedly being caught on camera stealing computers from the City of Tshwane.
Two cases of theft were opened against Nkululeko on March 20 and 22 after two incidents allegedly took place in March.
The DA said that Nkululeko was appointed to work for the city when it was still led by the ANC, and a year before the DA coalition took over.
Tshwane spokesperson Lindela Mashigo clarified that Nkululeko had been appointed as a call centre agent in the revenue department by the ANC administration.
The ANC in Tshwane had called on the provincial police commissioner to oversee the case and applauded city officials who they said reported the case to the police.
