Two nabbed for spate of street sign thefts in Kempton Park
The suspects are believed to have operated in Kempton Park, Edenvale, Boksburg and Germiston.

Two suspects were arrested on Monday afternoon for their alleged involvement in a syndicate stealing street name signs, reports Kempton Express.
It is believed the group operates in Kempton Park, Edenvale and perhaps even Boksburg and Germiston, said Capt Lesibana Molokomme, spokesperson for Norkem Park SAPS.
One arrested suspect is from Croydon and the other from Germiston. A third implicated suspect is still at large.

“The two suspects were seen damaging street signs around Norkem Park. Their video went viral on social media,” said Molokomme.
Local street signs such as Malvina Road, Gunther Street, Fynbos Road, Dick Mance Avenue, and at least 50 others fell prey to the suspects, aged 31 and 44, who allegedly sold the signs to a pawn shop in Benoni.

“An investigation by Capt John Jones, W/O Johannes Opperman and D/Sgt Livhuno Magaba led police to the pawn shop, where they uncovered the suspects’ addresses.”
Molokomme added that police believed the suspects could also be guilty of street sign thefts that occurred in Boksburg and Germiston.
“Police will follow leads to arrest the third suspect, and the other two will face charges of theft and malicious damage to property,” Molokomme concluded.
