WATCH: Robbery or hit? Ruthless murder in Joburg CBD angers South Africans

South Africans have divided opinions on social media after watching a video showing a man who was going about his business being shot in the Joburg CBD.

In the video, the unsuspecting victim can be seen hanging out with a woman in what looks like a passage as other people pass by.

One man walks towards the victim and shoots him from the back as another, who seems to have been waiting on the side, approaches the fallen man and starts searching.

The video has angered social media users and some have called for the death sentence to be brought back for such criminals.

However, there is divided opinion on whether this was a hit or a robbery.

Twitter user @sipsmth12, who thought it was a robbery wrote: “The lady [in] the video works for an insurance company in Morningside and the guy he’s from Bushbuckridge, he is a hawker in Morningside, the lady she is still traumatised. They killed her boyfriend for sweet nothing just few rands in his pocket,” while @Crochetcopkila said: “That was a hit, person knew of surveillance cam and wore that hat to hide his ID but yeah definitely a hit.”
