EMPD Kempton Park precinct officers received information about the hijacked truck and were able to track it down shortly after 5am in Kempton Park.

The truck was found abandoned, with some of its cargo missing.

Kgasago said EMPD Community Liaison Unit members joined the precinct officers and located the house on the corner of Kingfisher and Marauder streets in Rhodesfield at 6.30am, where the stolen cargo was discovered.

“Apparently, the house is used to store stolen goods and a huge quantity of various items worth thousands of rands were uncovered. Among the suspected stolen goods were furniture, gas cylinders, lanterns, stationery, and coffins.”

The recovered truck was escorted to SAPS Van Ryn Deep Pound in Benoni by Kempton Park precinct officers, assisted by private security company personnel. A case of hijacking truck was registered at Wierdabrug Police Station in Centurion.

Seven suspects, aged between 29 and 41, which included three women, found at the storage house, were arrested. They are all foreign nationals.
