Body found with torn clothes in Atteridgeville cemetery

A body of a woman in her forties was found in Atteridgeville cemetery, west of Pretoria on Friday morning.


A passerby discovered the body shortly after 06:00 and alerted the authorities, reports Pretoria East Rekord

“Police suspect that the victim was hit and killed with a sharp object,” said police spokesperson Constable Tumisang Moloto.

“She sustained injuries on the upper body and her clothes were torn apart.”

Moloto said it was suspected that the woman was sexually assaulted.

“We cannot rule out the possibilities of rape, but that will be determined by the forensic report,” Moloto said.

“The motive and circumstances surrounding the matter will be investigated.”

The victim had not yet been identified.

Police appeal to residents in the area to assist with information which may lead to the successful arrest of the suspect(s)

A case of murder is being investigated by Atteridgeville police.
