Body of 2-year-old boy found cut in two at Alberton railway line

It is unknown at this stage whether he was still alive or already dead when he was thrown onto the tracks.


In the early hours of Monday morning, police discovered a body of a two-year-old boy at the railway line under Rivett Carnett Street in Alberton, reports Alberton Record.

His body was apparently cut into two pieces. He has been identified by his mother.

According to provincial spokesperson Colonel Lungelo Dlamini, police will investigate the allegations that he was thrown onto the railway tracks. It is unknown at this stage whether he was still alive or dead when he was thrown onto the tracks. There will be a post-mortem to determine the cause of death.

A murder case will be opened for investigation and police will be following the allegations of suspected person(s), added Dlamini.
