A case of attempted murder has been opened after Ukhozi FM DJ Sbu Buthelezi was reportedly shot five times during a hijacking in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal.
KZN provincial spokesperson Colonel Thembeka Mbele confirmed the incident, adding that the South African Police Service (SAPS) would be releasing a statement shortly.
A man by the mane Ntobeko Mafeka took to Facebook to share pictures of Buthelezi in his hospital bed surrounded by visitors.
The caption loosely translated reads: “Praise God [that] Sbu Buthelezi is alive. Please keep on praying, God’s people, PMB [Pietermaritzburg] is a bad place, this thing that is happening here about guns is annoying now.”
