WATCH: Motorist steals R3k worth of diesel from Tzaneen garage

The driver asked the petrol attendant to fill five 25-litre cans with diesel, which were placed on the back of the bakkie.

The Global Emergency RAPID Response & Crime Prevention Team GCF forum posted CCTV footage of the incident, which occurred at Tzaneen Engen Garage, on Facebook on Monday, after an alleged theft took place last Thursday night. The theft was originally reported on by News24.

“A case of theft was opened and no arrests have been made,” Col Moatshe Ngoepe told Letaba Herald.

“Preliminary investigations show that the number plate used on the bakkie does not belong to the guy involved,” said fuel station manager Suhel Mohammed to Letaba Herald.

The driver asked the petrol attendant to fill five 25-litre cans with diesel, which were placed on the back of the bakkie. As soon as the last can was stacked and the petrol attendant walked away, presumably to fetch the pay point machine for the driver to pay for the diesel, the motorist can be seen starting the car and casually driving away.

It is alleged the driver sped off with diesel worth over R3,000 without paying.
