United Fellowship Church pastor Mpfariseni Mukhuba addressed her followers outside the Protea Magistrate’s Court in Soweto on Tuesday after she was charged with breaching the Disaster Management Act.
“The instruction that he was saying was, ‘let us shoot the pastor’. And when they tried to shoot me from close range some ladies came and protected me at the back and got shot at the back, and the thing that he shot was going to shoot my head and when he tried to shoot again he shot another one,” Mukhuba said in an address to her followers after the court proceedings.
Mukhuba and members of her congregation were arrested on Sunday following a noise complaint stemming from about 2,000 gathered congregants.
“It was three ladies that got shot and another guy who got shot trying to shield me. I don’t know why he was saying shoot the pastor because as far as I know they never said anything,” Mukhuba said.

“The only thing that I know is that they said it was noise. So I don’t know why the pastor had to be shot.”
Congregation members claim they were ambushed by Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) officers who came into their church and started shooting at women and children.
