The case against three men arrested in connection with July’s civil unrest was postponed on Wednesday by the Verulam Magistrates Court.

Dylan Govender, his brother Ned Govender and Jeetendra Jaikissoon are among more than 30 people who were arrested for the deadly violence in Phoenix, north Durban, which claimed the lives of at least 36 people.

Ned and Jaikissoon were each charged with one count of murder while Dylan was also charged with attempted murder.

During their last court appearance in August, the trio had abandoned their application for bail. However, on Wednesday, their legal representative informed the court they wanted to continue their bail application, resulting in the postponement of the case.

The case was postponed to Friday for the continuation of their application to be released on bail.
