Disgraced doctor Nandipha Magudumana and lover of convicted rapist and murderer Thabo Bester will be applying for bail in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court.
Accused
Magadumana will be appearing with her three co-accused – former G4S security supervisor Senohe Matsoara, suspended G4S guard Motenyane John Masukela, Integration technician Teboho James Lipholo and two other suspects – in the case of the audacious escape of the Facebook rapist on Wednesday.

They are facing charges of murder, aiding the escape of a prisoner and defeating the ends of justice, amongst other charges.
While the state opposed bail for Magadumana, Matsoara and Lipholo in their last court appearance, her 65-year-old father, Zolile Cornelius Sekeleni, was released on R10 000 bail after the state said it was not opposing bail due to his chronic illness.
G4S arrests
Earlier this week, two former G4S employees who were dismissed by the security company were arrested by police at their homes in Bloemfontein in connection with Bester’s escape.
The pair will appear before the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday on a charge of assisting an inmate to escape from lawful custody and defeating the ends of justice.
Eight people have so far been arrested in connection with Bester’s escape.
Searching for sharks
On Tuesday, Police Minister Bheki Cele said the ministry is making inroads into finding the high-level people who helped convicted rapist and murderer Thabo Bester escape from prison.
Cele said with every arrest, investigators were getting closer to uncovering Bester’s entire plan and all those who were involved in his audacious escape.
“We don’t want to push the team; we want them to find their way up to the level where we all believe that this thing originated. We know it originated with Bester, but Bester could not have dealt with the small fish. At a certain given point, [we’ll] have to get sharks on the matter.”
Bester escape
Bester escaped from the G4S-run Mangaung Correctional Centre (MCC) in Bloemfontein in May 2022, after it was initially believed he had died by suicide after setting himself alight in his cell.
The Facebook rapist and his lover Magadumana were arrested last month, about 10km out of Arusha in Tanzania, after fleeing the hotel they were staying in.
